Trade-offs

The Dark Axe's immense base power comes with a strict limitation: it cannot be enchanted and has no rune slots. What you see is what you get. This means it will eventually be outclassed by a fully enchanted and runed Dwarven Axe in the late game, but for raw unmodified power, nothing beats it.
