Magma Slug

The Magma Slug is a Nether-dwelling creature that thrives in lava. It is docile by nature, slowly crawling across the Nether's terrain -- but provoke it, and it will retaliate with a barrage of small fireballs.

Location

• Found in Nether Wastes and Crimson Forest biomes.

Behavior

• Docile until provoked -- Magma Slugs will not attack unless hit first.
• Lava Navigation -- They can walk through lava and actually prefer lava paths when navigating. Be careful chasing them near lava lakes.
• Ranged Attack -- When provoked, the Magma Slug fires small fireballs at the player from up to 10 blocks away.
• Fire Rate -- Shoots fireballs every 1.5-3.0 seconds, creating a steady stream of projectiles.

Strategy

• If you do not need their drops, simply leave them alone -- they will not bother you.
• When fighting, use a Shield to block incoming fireballs.
• Close the distance quickly to reduce the number of fireballs you need to dodge.
• Be cautious near lava -- the slug may retreat into lava where you cannot follow without fire protection.

Drops

Healing Flames are valuable alchemy ingredients, Magma Slugs are one of the only sources of Healing Flames in the Nether.
